When & How Do I Need to Upload My Audio Files?

After placing your order, you’ll receive an email with a link to upload your audio files. In the upload form, you’ll be asked to provide key details about your project to help us understand your vision.

You can upload your files directly using our secure upload zone by dragging and dropping or browsing your computer until all files are fully uploaded. Alternatively, you may include a direct download link to your files (such as Dropbox or WeTransfer). Once the form is submitted, you’re all set, and we’ll take it from there.

> Upload

Do I Need To Upload My Files Immediately After Ordering?

No. After placing your order, you’ll receive an email with an upload link, but you don't need to upload your files right away. If you plan to upload them later, simply let us know your expected timeline.

This flexibility is especially helpful if you’re still recording or booking multiple sessions. We do recommend uploading all files as soon as they’re ready and avoiding fragmented uploads whenever possible. Once we begin processing your material, adding or replacing files may incur an additional fee.

Are There Any Restrictions On Audio File Quantity, Size, Or Length?

You may upload as many audio files as your selected product allows. Rough mixes and reference tracks do not count toward this limit.

In general, you can upload up to 50 files per upload session, with each file up to 256 MB. There are no restrictions on the playtime or length of your audio files.

Can I Upload / Download DAW Project Files?

Mixing Monster does not accept DAW (digital audio workstation) project files. We work exclusively with exported audio files to ensure compatibility and a smooth workflow.

Likewise, we do not provide DAW project files for finished mixes or masters. All delivered files are high‑quality audio files ready for use, distribution, or further processing.

Can I Send A Download Link To My File Archive?

Yes. After placing your order, you’ll receive an email with an upload link. In the upload form, you can provide key project details and choose how you’d like to submit your files.

You may upload your audio files directly using our secure upload zone by dragging and dropping or browsing your computer. Alternatively, you can paste a direct download link to your file archive (such as Dropbox or WeTransfer). Once the form is submitted and all files are accessible, you’re good to go.

I Only Have MP3 Files – Are They OK To Work With?

Yes—if MP3 is the highest‑quality version you have, we can work with it. That said, we strongly prefer high‑quality .WAV files, as they provide the best foundation for professional mixing and mastering.

MP3 files are highly compressed and permanently lose important audio information, especially in the high‑frequency range. While converting an MP3 to a .WAV file changes the format, it does not restore lost quality. Even so, we can still achieve solid results with MP3 files, and we’ll always work with the best material you can provide.

What If I Have Accidentally Sent Wrong Files?

If you’ve uploaded the wrong files, please contact us via email as soon as possible so we can replace them before work begins. This helps ensure a smooth workflow and the best possible results.

If processing has already started and new tracks or stems are required, additional charges may apply. In such cases, we offer specific add‑on options for file replacements, which you can find in the mixing & mastering add‑ons sections.

What Is A Stem Or Stem Audio File?

A stem is a stereo submix made up of a group of related instruments. The term originated in the broadcast industry and refers to combining multiple tracks—such as all drum microphones—into a single stereo file, commonly called a drum stem. When all stems are played together, they recreate the full stereo mix.

During mixing, we internally create stems for each section of your song and process them individually to prepare your mix for strategic mastering. If you need these mixed stems delivered separately (for example, for external stem mastering), you can add the “Mixed Stems Export” add-on to your mixing order.

Which Files Will I Be Getting?

In most cases, you’ll receive three mixed/mastered files per song:

  • .WAV 24‑bit / 44.1 kHz – optimized for online streaming and digital distribution
  • .WAV 16‑bit / 44.1 kHz – optimized for CD release
  • .MP3 320 kbps – high‑quality MP3 for easy sharing and playback

If you book one of our mixing services and prefer not to have your track mastered, simply select the corresponding option in the upload form. If you need additional formats or custom export settings, feel free to contact us. All final files can be downloaded directly from your personal customer page.
